This was another day when every word weighed 38 pounds. I got the story where it needed to get to but I'm not thrilled with it. That's what subsequent drafts are for, though.
I'm at just over 39k. I should coast across the official finish line sometime Friday and since I have nine days in a row off after that, should be able to finish the rest of the book before I return to work unless I die of sloth and gluttony before then.
One thing I've noticed is that if I don't wait to eat dinner until after I get my daily writing quota in, I'm not nearly as motivated or inspired while I'm plugging away on the keyboard.
Also, an interesting thing happened. I introduced a cute lady prison guard a few chapters ago with the intent that she'd wind up being Whitlock's love interest and gun-toting bad ass friend. However, over the weekend, I introduced a real estate agent that Jack and I are both way more interested in. I'll have to see how this shakes out.
